Project Potential Adelaide was founded by our Coordinator Amy in August 2019. After being approached by families within the school community, Amy began casually helping non verbal students after hours to offer assistance in tutoring and speech.
Fast forward to now, and Project Potential is a successful social enterprise helping those who need it most. We operate within an ethical business model which is aimed at improving the possibilities for those with intellectual delays and cognitive conditions.

AMY – FOUNDER, MANAGING DIRECTOR, COORDINATOR
Project Potential Adelaideās founder and manging director, Amy Rowe, has been working for the education department for over 7 years with a focus on special needs teaching and disability respite within the care sector.
She grew up supporting and mentoring her two younger brothers, developing this passion into a career. Amy used her life experience to support her education and enhance her skills when attending the University of Adelaide, studying a Bachelors degree in Social Science, majoring in humanities and psychology.
Being an experienced classroom assistant, she managed to juggle her DECD work throughout her university studies in Adelaide, while then travelling overseas to volunteer as in intern in Indonesia. Two years ago Amy applied her educational experience and people skills to develop PPA – A social enterprise focused on community inclusion and personal development.
By establishing Project Potential Adelaide, Amy is bridging the gap between traditional respite and special needs education. On a daily basis, she liaisons with NDIS, social workers, allied health workers, families, and staff, all while prioritising 1:1 time with each of her students to encouraging their engagement and continued development. Amy’s strong work ethic demonstrates her enthusiasm and initiative for becoming a true advocate for her students rights and needs.
THOMAS –ASSISTANT DIRECTOR & COORDINATOR
Serving as Assistant Director and Support Coordinator, Thomas has quickly cemented his place in the space of literacy and communication in the developmental education landscape. With a background in special education settings across Australia, Thomas is leader in the AAC supported literacy space. He played a pivotal role in aligning state-wide programmes and pedagogical practices with evidence-based learning, focusing on the development of phonological awareness.
Thomas’ expertise in literacy development and AAC strategies, coupled with his leadership in shaping evidence-based learning approaches, shows his passion for empowering participants and developmental support workers alike.
MONIQUE – SHIFT SUPERVISOR
Monique joined our team as a developmental support worker in early 2021, coming from a background in nursing and individual support. With plenty of experience in aged care, she discovered a passion for helping and caring for others. Monique stands out for her hands-on approach and always goes the extra mile to make sure her students get the best care possible. She looks forward to every session with her clients and consistently finds creative ways to make their time enjoyable. Monique currently works as our shift supervisor.
SIAN – DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT WORKER
Sian (Sharn) started with us in late 2023, joining us from the sporty ranks of state basketball coaching. Her strong intuition and constant initiative provides our students with a sense of safety, creating a plateform that quickly builds rapport. We’re excited to see the continued positive difference she makes.
NEIL – DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT WORKER (RELIEF)
Neil has extensive industry experience within the Department for Education, complemented by personal lived experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. As a developmental support worker, his calm and patient approach underscores his commitment to creating inclusive educational environments. Neil’s unique blend of professional expertise and personal connection to the field make him a valuable asset, exemplifying a dedication to positive impact and resilience in fostering inclusive education.
NIKKI- DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT WORKER
Nikki brings her vibrant personality and dynamic skill set from the world of real estate to our team, now focusing her talents on supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. With extensive experience in customer relations and client management, Nikkie excels in creating meaningful connections and providing exceptional care. Her outgoing nature and bubbly personality light up every room, ensuring that those she supports feel valued and understood. Nikkie is eager to grow her skills in this sector, continually seeking opportunities to learn and enhance her ability to make a positive difference.
STEVEN – DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT WORKER (VACATION CARE)
Having gained valuable experience as a classroom assistant in special education, Steven brings a dynamic background to our team. His innate strengths have equipped him with insights into the unique needs of students requiring specialised support. Steven works in our school holiday vacation care program, showcasing his adaptability and commitment to enhancing the overall well-being of those he serves. Through his role, he contributes to creating enriching and inclusive environment, ensuring a positive experience for all involved.
