Project Potential Adelaide is an disability support service for the families of children with intellectual conditions and learning delays. Operating primarily within Adelaide’s Western suburbs, our uniquely targeted educational service will deliver an engaging and individualised program tailored especially for your child’s unique needs.
We offer a range of hands on activities, including community access excursions and in home respite. Our interactive lessons focus on literacy, communication, AAC, positive behavior support implementation, problem solving, and reasoning abilities. This approach incorporates an increase in life skills and generalisation within daily life. Our learning centre is located in Welland, in the form of a house to simulate functional life skills.
Project Potential’s rates are compatible with self and plan managed NDIS plan funds under Core and CB. Session times are extremely flexible, allowing for last minute cancellations, pupil free day care, after hours support, and school pick ups. Our current cohort largely consists of youth on the autism spectrum (level 3). We work with students of varying ages from 5 years old to 30 years old who display high sensory and behavioural needs in association with their communication barriers.
We exist as a feasible option to those who wish to implement what has been done in therapy across generalisable environments and at higher frequency, through the Key Worker Model. We assist families navigating the NDIS landscape by liaising with relevant bodies to provide a tangible dialogue and practical role out of programmes under the guidance of allied health professionals. We work with the whole team around the participant (such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Practitioners, Teachers, Parents) to help deliver the therapeutic techniques prescribed by relevant professionals. As support workers, we work under the guidance of allied health professionals. We follow positive behaviour support techniques as part of our behaviour management methodology but are not Behaviour Practitioners and do not write PBS plans. Similarly, we are not registered Developmental Educators. Our use of developmental education focuses on providing special needs tutoring throughout all aspects of interactions with clients. We frequently host therapy sessions at our premises to gain an insight into appropriate techniques, while being able to promote generalisation at a high frequency within the community, with the aim of delivering high quality outcomes for participants.
The three pillars of PPA encompass:
